New Year will affect HSA Contribution Dates

Due to the way banks process deposits, HSA contributions cannot be posted in advance. Since the first banking day in 2011 will be on January 3rd, HSA contributions for the new tax year cannot be posted until that date or after. If you have an out-of-pocket expense between the dates of 1/1/11 - 1/4/11, you will need to reimburse yourself from your HSA funds after the initial deposit has been made. Left over funds from the prior year may apply to reimbursement. If you have funds remaining, then you may use your HSA Card as normal.

Just as a reminder, contributions can be made for the tax year 2010 through April 15, 2011, as long as they are identified as such on the contribution files/list.
