Playing Golf with Lance Briggs
Almost every year Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois puts on a small golf outing for a group of their top producers. Usually they have a sports celebrity come to the event for a little meet and greet. In the past some of the celebrities were ex- Chicago Bears players like Steve McMichael or Dan Hampton.
This year they had Lance Briggs, outside line backer #55 on the Bears! Everyone went crazy when he came out. Since BCBSIL does some sponsoring of his charity Briggs 4 Kids they already had a great relationship with him. He presented the award to the top General Agency EBRM and the most improved General Agency Flexible Benefit. I work with both of these GAs so it was nice to see them win the awards. I didn't win the top agent award, maybe next year they will have a trophy for Infinity Health Insurance.
After the awards, we broke out to have some training on changes to their online application site and the new changes to the health insurance industry in Illinois. 2009 and 2010 will be an interesting year so I will save this for another article.
Finally it was time for golf! We played at the Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. The Highlands course was the one they had us on. A little easier than the Brute course but still a challenge. There were some people that didn't end up showing up for the golf. I'm not sure if they left after the meeting or never showed up for the whole thing. Their loss, my gain, because of this they had to change up the foursomes. Whoever was supposed to be in Lance's group wasn't there!
After a quick intro with Lance we headed for the course. My first tee shot didn't go very far and neither did Lance's, so that made me feel a little better. He should stick to hitting Packers. We ended up playing 9 holes and then he called it quits and had to get going. I did get an autographed golf ball and this picture. I wonder who they will have next year. Maybe Lance again!
