Enhance Wellness Benefits with All BlueEdge Individaul HSA health Insurance plans

As a health insurance agent in Illinois specializing in Individual and family coverage, I'm excited for a new Wellness plan enhancement being rolled out with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois starting next year. Most of the other carriers that we work with in Illinois like Aetna and Humana already covered preventative/wellness care on their HSA Plans. Aetna capped the coverage at $200 a calendar year and Humana capped it at $300. BCBSIL will cap it at $500 a year. This makes the Blue Cross BlueEdge HSA plan very competitive with the other carriers in the market since this was always a sticking point for people that wanted the large PPO network of the blue cross plans, plus adult and child preventative care included in their HSA plans. You can run quotes for all the carriers at our site www.infinityhealthinsurance.com or if you want to just see Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance quotes you can follow this link.

The new Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Blue Care dental plan is available on these HSA plans. Adding this on will give you a great overall health insurance package.

I just ran a comparison for a 32 year old client living in Chicago. Besides her annual exams we figured she would have to go the the doctor 3 or more times for the Select Blue Advantage plan to be a better value than the HSA plan.

Introducing Enhanced Wellness Benefits with All BlueEdgeSM Individual HSA Health Insurance Plans (Effective 01/01/2010)

BCBSIL is introducing enhanced Wellness benefits with the BlueEdgeSM Individual HSA* health plans. Effective January 1, 2010 for existing and new members, both the BlueEdge Individual HSA and the BlueEdge Individual HSA 5000 health plans will include this additional coverage:

  • The Well-Adult and Well-Child Care benefits will be available immediately, without having to satisfy the member's annual deductible
  • The benefit will be paid at 100% after the $20 copayment, per doctor office visit
  • The new Wellness benefit includes: an annual physical and/or gynecological exam; plus immunizations and routine diagnostic tests received or ordered on the same day as the exam

Existing members will be notified of the new Wellness benefit in their annual Member Mailing, being sent this month.

The minimum deductible for an HSA plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois in 2010 is 1,200 for individuals and $2,400 for families.
